How Kinta leads industry transformation

Planning for machines, routing, labor, materials, tools, inventory, and other moving parts is too complex to solve by tinkering in a spreadsheet or with a linear programming tool.

Case Study

Optimizing machine utilization

Stanley Black & Decker

Using data from the Stanfield, North Carolina fastening plant, Kinta and the Stanley Black & Decker team created detailed production schedules to allocate plant resources: machines, tools, and labor.

The result: Kinta’s production schedules offered new techniques for machine assignment, which led to dramatically improved queue times, increased throughput and on-time delivery.

Case Study

Automated sequencing

Diebold Nixdorf

At Diebold-Nixdorf, orders frequently reach their scheduled begin time only to find missing materials.

Kinta’s complete simulation of material availability helped flag potential availabilities well in advance and give planners time to make purchases.

The result: Kinta's production schedules allowed for dramatically reduced throughput variance, reduced days in inventory for expensive materials, and millions in annual recurring savings.

Case Study

Electricity Savings

A cement manufacturer

A large cement manufacturer in Europe sought to decrease their energy consumption to help reduce costs and improve their carbon footprint.

Kinta used historical data to produce a model of the client's facilities to determine which cement mills were most energy efficient. Using the detailed model, Kinta created production schedules that were optimized for energy conservation by leveraging the most efficient mills.

The result: Kinta's production schedules resulted in reduced electricity consumption, reduced finished goods inventory, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cost savings.

FAQs

    Who is Kinta for?

Kinta is designed for advanced modern manufacturers with difficult production processes. Our tool supports any manufacturer whose production complexity makes it difficult to meet delivery dates, reduce changeovers and overtime, and maintain lean production methodology.

What do I need to get started with Kinta?

During implementation, we’ll meet regularly with an IT stakeholder who can provide detailed production data, and a factory stakeholder who can describe your operations and business goals.

Does Kinta need historical training data?

No, Kinta only needs current factory data to build a digital model of your factory. Just like modern Chess or Go engines, the algorithm optimizes a plan during a fast simulation of a single planning period.

Kinta does not train on a historical training set at all, since it uses Reinforcement Learning rather than Supervised Machine Learning.

    How is Kinta priced?

Kinta is priced as a per-factory license, with bulk discounts for additional factories. By eliminating per-seat pricing, Kinta can become a frictionless source of truth across departments.

Is my data secure on Kinta’s platform?

All data and software can be hosted either on a client’s private cloud in compliance with client security protocols, or on Kinta’s server. In a Kinta hosted option, Kinta provides security guarantees around data-in-transit and data-at-rest and follows strict SOC2 data security standards.
